Mullaperiyar dam in Kerala which is considered a dangerous zone by many experts is under the scanner now. With Rigorous agitations and protests that has been rocking the state of Kerala,this issue has taken a rebirth.
If Mullaperiyar dam breaks...that is question mark among many...let us consider the consequences of such a catastrophe....
1.Kerala will have 11 districts!!!!!!
The primary aspect every one knows is the fact that most of the people living near the dam will be washed away into the Arabian sea.not only some people. It is estimated that almost 3 districts in Kerala will be no more.so the
2.Kerala will have new government!!!!!!
We all know the political instability in Kerala. The congress led UDF came to power with a majority of 2 seats.hence with the lose of this 3 districts, thew state will have to conduct new elections and we can hope for a new government in Kerala..
3.No Cochin Port!!!!!!!!!!!
It is a certainty that the well developed Cochin port will be devastated by this problem.it remains to be seen if the much hyped vallarpadam terminal can withstand this strike.
4.Tamilnadu will lose its share of water.
If this dam breaks there will never ever be any sort of negotiations between the later Kerala governments and the state of tamilnadu. What this means will be that the relationship between
5.Karnataka and andhrapardesh will look to revive their deals with Tamilnadu
Tamil nadu is the waterless state in the country. It takes its share of water from the 3 states that surrounds it, if Mullaperiyar dam collapses, Karnataka and Andhrapradesh will look to catch fish in the muddy water.their agreements with Tamilnadu will be challenged in the court and there goes the trouble for Tamilnadu.
